Import Input

I just wondered if anyone has tried the "Import" function yet? I had mine ready to go but have hesitated. Before I push that button, I'd like to know whether this is a "Copy to" import, where the origin remains intact, or if it's a "Move to" action in which the files on the original server are erased?

IE, if I import my LJ account, witll my lj remain as it is or will it be deleted in the move?

Just curious....

Apologies for the drive-by comment, but I saw this through the Latest Things page.

The import function will make a copy the entries from LiveJournal.

However, you may want to wait a few days because LiveJournal is currently under very heavy load and imports are very likely to fail.

Thank you! That's all I needed to know. I can wait a couple of days. Just wanted all the info before I took action.

I see you got your answer. Earlier tonight I emailed you the link to DW's latest news update where they asked that LJers slow down the imports for a couple of days because they're getting so many. I can't imagine why. LOL

I spent a LOT of time reading the FAQs and have learned how to do a lot of things. I thought for sure you'd choose the same layout I did. ;>) There were very few I liked and layouts here don't support photos. Oh well, then I don't have to worry about who to choose from all my celebrity favorites. I like the colors in the layout you chose. Very pretty.

I copied/pasted my bio and interests info from LJ to here. I don't think I'll bother importing my entries...at least not for now...but I realize you have a different reason for wanting to. Can't import user pics either because I have too many at LJ for DW to handle.

I need to go back and give the FAQ another look. It always pays to reread these things.
